ABOUT MAYBE NO MOONS

"Maybe No Moons makes breezy, fun indie pop songs that stick in your brain. Smart melodies with playful stripped down arrangements. Several tunes could easily be lost tracks from Magnetic Fields epitomal 69 Love Songs."

Sarah Chen - Keys/Vocals

Sarah fell in love with music at the age of five, when she began her classical training in piano. From then on, she took lessons in flute and taught herself guitar, embarking on a variety of musical escapades including marching band, youth orchestra, and now indie band Maybe No Moons. A poetic lyricist, Sarah writes cryptic words over catchy, nostalgic melodies. She draws influences from a spectrum of genres and artists, including Bon Iver, The 1975, Arcade Fire, The Cure, and Gorillaz.

Jake Dixon - Bass

With parents Kirk and Rebecca Dixon both in bands El Gato and Lovie (respectfully), Jake Dixon seemed destined for music. Jake started playing the bass for his middle school orchestra while teaching himself piano and guitar.  He played bass in The Oxen at the 2016 Ultraviolet Rock Show and the experience left Jake with a desire to write his own music. A year later, he created Maybe No Moons with friends Sarah, Abbi, and Sam. Jake takes inspiration from artists including Punch Brothers, Weezer, The Happy Bullets, and Toto. His bass lines are frequently inspired by bands of the 70s such as Jackson 5.

Abbi Muyco - Guitar/Vocals

Inspired by many 60s and 80s bands such as Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, and the Raspberries, Abbi Muyco joined Maybe No Moons with longtime friend, Jake Dixon, whom she met in middle school orchestra. She began playing violin and self teaching herself finger-style guitar at the age of eleven while continuing piano lessons from the 2nd grade. However, she only started playing electric guitar when her church needed a new lead guitarist. Abbi's enchanting vocals and driving guitar riffs add character to Maybe No Moons. Her song writing style is similar to that of the Beatles (and her guitar gently weeps).

Colman Burks - Drums

After being inspired to branch out to the drum set by his cousin, Colman got his first kit for Christmas and hasn't stopped playing since. He has experience in a wide variety of music but prefers jazz, currently playing in his school's jazz ensemble while also being the drumline captain of Jasper High School's marching band. Often playing complex and melodic beats, Colman looks up to famous musicians such as Max Roach, Stanton Moore, as well as Matt Garstka and uses their influence to create his own style that perfectly suits the music of Maybe No Moons.

Sam Dlott - Drums

At the age of 11, Sam Dlott's percussion training started in Middle School band. At age 14, he got his first drum set and immediately began mimicking his favorite artists. His clever beats reflect that of various groups including The Black Keys, Vista Kicks, and his long-time favorite band, Coldplay. If there's anything that he loves more than a clean beat, it's a fine match of bowling. (Sam's dog Charlie often makes appearances at practices and is jokingly referred to as the mascot of Maybe No Moons.)

Michelle Min - Keys

While routinely attending orchestra concerts since the age of 3, Michelle has ambitiously incorporated music into her life through a variety of ways. She launched into the world of music by studying classical piano at the age of 5, and soon after, immediately taking upon violin lessons due to her widened interests in the uniqueness of differing sounds. Michelle is a self-taught guitarist and is currently playing the flute in the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra. She devotes most of her time composing original songs and posting them on her YouTube channel. Michelle reels her inspiration from diverse musical categories and bands including Radiohead, Oasis, and Foster the People.
